HAPPENINGS COMING UP: 

REMINDER! FIELDS OF FAITH –  Wednesday, October 9th at 6pm
We will not be having service on Wednesday, October 9th so that we can join our community at Fields of Faith. We encourage you to join us at the York High School football field for this special evening of community worship and encouragement. Be sure to bring a blanket or a lawn chair. 

NEW! PASTOR APPRECIATION DAY- Sunday, October 13th
We will be honoring our Pastors THIS SUNDAY! Feel free to bring a card or token of appreciation to honor them. The church will provide thank you cards if you wish to fill one out for Pastor Jason & Rachelle and Pastor Ami & Chris!

NEW! HURRICANE HELENE RELIEF EFFORTS 
We are still partnering with our brothers and sisters at Faith Baptist. The biggest need right now is electric and gas-powered heaters. If you would like to donate, the church will be sure to get them to Faith Baptist! You can drop them off in the front foyer by the admin office. They are also collecting funds at a donation area at Faith Baptist, follow the signs. 

There is also a desperate need for winter gear for hurricane victims near Johnson City (coats, jackets, blankets, etc.), along with diapers and wipes. You may leave them at the Pickett County Health Dept. or bring items to Brenda Winningham at church this coming Sunday, Oct. 13th. She and her son will get these items to the people in that area. Please pray over the items and for these families.

NEW! SARAH’S GARDEN MEMORIAL SERVICES- Mondays @ Noon – 636 Twelve Oaks Road
Sarah’s Garden is hosting Memorial Services each Monday at noon thru November 4th. This is a time to remember the unborn, to stand up and pray for life, and for the U.S. of A. Different churches and ministers are leading each service. Directions: Taylor Place Road (TN 296) follow signs south on Model Farm Road about 1 mile continue straight on Twelve Oaks Road to Sarah’s Garden on the right.

NEW! HIGHLANDS KIDS FALL BREAK KICK OFF – THIS Sunday, October 13th at 5:30pm
Join Highlands Kids for a fun evening at their Fall Break Kick Off! Ages 6-12 years are invited! Together they will watch a movie, have pizza, popcorn and all kinds of fall fun! You can RSVP at the HK Info Table.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD (O.C.C.): This project of Samaritan’s Purse makes Christmas a special day for children in need around the world. Highlands Church has upped its goal this year to fill 1,000 boxes with toys, clothing, games, and other needed items. If you would like to purchase a case of 50 boxes, you can do so for only $40! We need helping hands to assist Carol Watson with this ministry project as we approach packing day! For more information or to help, please see Carol.

KNOWING GOD’S CHARACTER – Starts THIS Thursday, October 10th, 6 pm
Have you ever wondered why God seems to have one personality or character in the Old Covenant and an entirely different personality or character in the New? We will explore this and more in a new community group. While initially planned for 13 weeks, we will move at the pace of the Holy Spirit. Although we will use a couple of sources, the leading book will be “God is Good: He’s Better Than You Think” by Bill Johnson. Maureen Gower will host the group at her home. We hope to see you there! We must know our Father’s character to fully walk our inheritance.

A New Community Group is starting during the day on Tuesdays. “A Sure Foundation,” will help new and established believers learn how to plant the Word in their hearts, unlock the parable of Jesus that unlocks all others, and develop a mature and stable walk with the Lord. This teaching is essential for every Christian.

HIGHLANDS KIDS CHURCH (12 years and under): Children’s Church is available on Sundays & Wednesdays. Children are dismissed from the sanctuary after Worship.
